IMPReSA is a Project aiming at combining the great demand for construction materials with the large amount of plastic debris.

The Project proposes the partial replacement of aggregates of natural origin, usually employed in the manufacturing of cementitious mortars, with non-recyclable plastic materials. As is well known, the surfeit of plastic debris has already become a global environmental emergency. The plastic, in fact, is one of the most common material on earth, and it is often employed to manufacture one-use items with extremely short lifetime.
In this context, the Project pursues the following main goals:

reduction in the use of virgin materials with natural origin employed in the manufacturing of construction materials;
replacement of virgin materials with a large amount of non-recyclable plastic materials, with poor qualities and no alternative applications.

Moreover, as a further goal, the possible employment of geopolymeric materials and charcoal is also investigated.
